“I know what to eat but I just can’t seem to do it.”
“I’m an emotional eater.”
“I want more control over my eating.”
Sound familiar? A Craving Change® workshop can help you find out why you eat the way you do, why it’s hard to change your eating habits, and what you can do about it.
Saying “no” to temptation takes more than willpower, it takes “skillpower”. In Craving Change, participants learn new ways of thinking and behaving to help change problematic eating habits.
A Craving Change workshop includes three weekly two-hour classes. There is no fee to participate. Through activities and group discussions, Craving Change helps participants understand why it is so hard to change eating habits, identify personal problematic eating triggers, and learn many different strategies to change their eating and make those changes stick.
In PMH, licensed Craving Change facilitators usually hold workshops in-person for small groups in communities throughout the region. This year, PMH shifted to offering virtual Craving Change workshops using Microsoft Teams. Participants connected from home on a computer, tablet, or smart phone.
We limited registration to eight participants per workshop because you can see up to eight people plus yourself on screen when using Microsoft Teams on a laptop or desktop computer. Being able to see everyone in the group makes it feel more like you are together around a table.
Since June 2020, eight of our licensed facilitators in PMH offered Craving Change to groups by Microsoft Teams. In total, there were 67 participants and almost 70% of them fully attended and received a certificate of completion.
Most participants rated their experience of using Microsoft Teams for Craving Change as good (41%) or excellent (57%). To make it easier, we provided technical support over the phone for participants who requested assistance to join the virtual meetings.
What else did participants say about the virtual Craving Change workshops? Their comments were similar to when the classes have been in-person:
“I learned a lot about my eating that I didn’t notice before.”
“I love the interaction with the group and getting other people’s perspectives.”
“Looking forward to trying new changes.”
“Love the workbook – it’s a good take away tool.”
This winter, PMH will offer a virtual Craving Change workshop in January and likely one more in March.
