Prairie Mountain Health is currently recruiting a family physician or internist to join the Hospitalist group at Brandon Regional Health Centre. The Brandon Regional Health Centre has 313 beds with a moderate-volume ER and a 9-bed ICU providing care to medical and surgical patients. Diagnostic Services consist of Radiology, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine. Other medical programs include Dialysis, Chemotherapy, Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Cardiology, Respirology, and Gastroenterology. There are over 100 physicians, including family physicians and specialists, with admitting privileges at the health centre, and numerous medical clinics located throughout the city.
     
Qualifications:
 
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the Canadian Medical Protective Association and have coverage in the appropriate category.
  • CCFP or FRCPC required
  • Must have experience managing hospitalized patients
   
   
     
Description:
 

The primary role of the hospitalist is to care for patients presenting to the hospital requiring inpatient admission who do not have a physician with admitting privileges. In serving as the Most Responsible Physician, you will manage all care including work-up, appropriate referrals, planning discharge and liaising with the community primary care provider.  This full-time position will provide 26 weeks of care per year in a 1:2 rotation. The work week is Monday through to Sunday, on site from 0800 - 1700 hours. The on-call responsibility is a minimum average of 3 nights per week of work.

 
 
Remuneration:
  Remuneration is in accordance with the agreement between the Minister of Health and Doctors Manitoba.

Riding Mountain National Park is one hour north of the city, and the Peace Gardens are situated on the Manitoba/North Dakota border just over an hour to the south. There are numerous other recreational areas in western Manitoba. Dubbed “the Host City”, Brandon’s enthusiastic volunteer base land many provincial, national and international events. The “Wheat City” is an excellent community in which to raise children or retire.
