Donations For PMH April 2019

Dauphin Regional Health Centre Benefits From Donations

The Dauphin Regional Health Centre (DRHC) received a pair of recent donations that will provide a total of $1,500 to be split between three different program/service areas within the hospital.

Tony Shewchuk, of Tony’s Auto & Electric donated $ 1,000 and John Dulewich, of JDS Laundromat, donated $500 from monies raised through a motorcycle fundraiser they organized back in August 2018. The two led the first annual Motorcycle Memorial Ride that ventured to Sandy Lake, Russell, Roblin and back to Dauphin.

The MRI Unit, Palliative Care Unit and Cancer Care Program will receive a designated $500 each from the generous contribution made through the Dauphin Hospital Foundation.

The two are already making plans to hold their second annual ride this coming August.

Sweeping Cancer From Our House Donates to WMCC

The sixth annual Sweeping Cancer from our House bonspiel was held at Riverview Curling Club in November 2018 with proceeds going to the Western Manitoba Cancer Centre (WMCC).   The bonspiel raised $4,484.19 in addition to $7,880.00 from the WestJet raffle.  A cheque totaling $ 12,364.19 was given to WMCC.  Part of these funds have been earmarked to purchase a patient treatment chair for the cancer centre and the balance will be used to support cancer patients along their cancer journey.

Over the past five years Riverview Curling Club has donated $34,199.98 to this patient care fund. With the donation this year, the total donations to date is $46.564.17.

Thank you to the Sweeping Cancer from our House committee members for all their hard work over the years in putting on this bonspiel and for all those who participated and supported this event.

Beared Villains Drop Off Easter Baskets at BRHC

Bearded Villains is a group of individuals across the world who's mission is to do charitable work. Kyle Snow from Birtle is a member of the Manitoba Chapter of Bearded Villains and wanted to pay it forward to children by linking to the “Easter for Eli” campaign to deliver Easter baskets to children in the hospital or their visiting family members.  This campaign was started in memory of Elias Garrett who lost his battle with cancer.  Learn more about this project by visiting the “Easter for Eli” Facebook page.

Kyle stopped by the Brandon Regional Health Centre Pediatric Ward and dropped off some baskets for children on the ward. He also delivered baskets to the NICU Unit on the Maternity Unit.

Thank you, Bearded Villains Manitoba and Kyle Snow for sharing this act of kindness!!
