COVID-19 Vaccine Program Support Positions

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of our departments throughout our region will require additional staffing to support our fight against COVID-19; while continuing to provide the best possible health care services to Manitobans.

Prairie Mountain Health recognizes the hard work and dedication of our front-line heath care providers and we are looking for additional experienced health care providers to offer support during these unprecedented and challenging times, to help provincial efforts to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19.

 

COVID Immunization Clinic - Client Navigator

Work Location: Will be assigned to one of various locations

Salary: Based on Classification of incumbent

Position Overview
  • Welcomes clients and performs initial screening for COVID-19 symptoms or risks related to travel (per provincial protocols for screening prior to entry of clinical sites)
  • Confirms the client has an appointment and updates appointment list to indicate client’s attendance
  • Assists with navigation through the site
  • Refers clients who fail the screening protocol or have questions to the appropriate staff member (e.g., Clinical Lead) if appropriate
  • Encourages anyone entering the clinic to clean their hand with alcohol-based hand sanitizer; provides a mask to clients who do not have one
  • Determines whether the client has any accessibility requirements (e.g., mobility issues, sight or hearing impaired) that require additional supports and refers to the appropriate staff member if appropriate (e.g., Clinical Manager)
  • Facilitates crowd control and clinic flow, ensuring physical distancing of at least 2 metres is maintained between clients while waiting in line to enter the clinic or in the pre-registration area with the aid of markings on the ground
  • Ensures that signage is in place and visible, including COVID-19 screening protocols, eligibility criteria, clinic instructions and clinic flow, as appropriate
  • Directs clients to immunization area
  • Provides paper documents for completion as required
  • Refers clients to appropriate Clinic Lead for discussion of any potential contraindications to immunization or questions
  • Supports clinic flow by directing clients to the next available Immunizer
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade 12
  • Proficiency with computerized systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to manage in a fast paced environment
  • Experience in a mass immunization clinic preferred

 

COVID Immunization Clinic Manager

Position Overview
  • Responsible for the overall operations of the immunization clinic in collaboration with the Immunization Clinical Leader responsible for the clinical services
  • Oversees all aspects of clinic planning, implementation/operation and shut down with support from Vaccine Immunization Task Force
  • Ensures staffing schedules for all roles are planned and managed according to schedules for each day
  • Ensures supplies of vaccines, and immunization clinic supplies and equipment are on hand for each given day and coordinates to receive shipments as required by vaccination schedule
  • Ensures the flow of clients is safe and efficient throughout the day
  • Ensures all safety precautions are taken for cleaning both client and staff areas
  • Ensure all security arrangements are in place for the vaccine storage and for the clinic
  • Ensures appropriate training materials are available for staff members
  • Working with the staff in charge of logistics and/or specialized support function, ensures appropriate supplies, including vaccines, for each clinic
  • Ensures that policies are in place to maintain infection control
  • Coordinates communication with staff
  • Handles issues such as occurrences
  • Trouble-shoots problems/concerns that arise, including complaints

 

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Recognized post-secondary degree, in business administration, social sciences or health services or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Extensive experience in a management/leadership role in services sector
  • Experience in health care sector an asset
  • Prior experience managing immunization clinics an asset but not required for this role
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize a large complex workload to meet deadlines
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)

 

COVID Immunization Clinical Lead

Position Overview
  • Responsible for clinical functioning of the immunization clinic
  • In collaboration with the Clinic Manager, ensures that all team members are aware of their role for the day and provides regular updates to the team as new information becomes available Provides clinical practice and quality monitoring support to immunization providers and post immunization observation area team members
  • Responds to questions from clients and/or the Immunization Team Members or in the post immunization observation areas, including clients who fail the screening, are not eligible for immunization based on the criteria of the clinic or have contraindications
  • Ensures cold chain of vaccine is maintained and monitors vaccine inventory
  • Assists with problem solving related to informed consent process
  • Ensures compliance within the clinic workplace safety procedures
  • Follows PPE policies and procedures and supports all team members to ensure that PPE procedures are adhered to
  • Physically capable of carrying out clinical skills such as immunization
  • Physically able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 15 lbs or 6.8 kg

  • Physically able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 15 lbs or 6.8 kg

COVID Immunization Clinic - Post Immunization Observer

  • Monitors Post-Immunization Observation Area, for clients who may be unwell and need assistance after immunization; responds to any reactions and/or answer any questions
  • Ensures that clients maintain 2 metre distance and continue to wear their masks within the post immunization observation area
  • Ensures all staff and volunteers in the post immunization observation area comply with safe work procedures
  • Follows PPE policies and procedures and assists others as needed
  • Physically capable of carrying out clinical skills such as immunization
  • Physically able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 15 lbs or 6.8 kg
