Prairie Mountain Health is currently recruiting a family physician or internist to join the Hospitalist Group at Brandon Regional Health Centre. The Brandon Regional Health Centre has 313 beds with a moderate-volume ER and a 9-bed ICU providing care to medical and surgical patients. Diagnostic Services consist of Radiology, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine. The primary role of the hospitalist is to care for patients presenting to the hospital requiring inpatient admission who do not have a physician with admitting privileges. In serving as the Most Responsible Physician, you will manage all care including work-up, appropriate referrals, planning discharge and liaising with the community primary care provider. This half-time position will provide 13 weeks of care per year in a 1:4 rotation. The work week is Monday through to Sunday, on site from 0800 - 1700 hours. The on-call responsibility is a minimum average of 3 nights per week of work.

Recently ranked #6 in MoneySense “Canada’s Best Places to Live 2012”, Brandon is a thriving city with a population of over 53 000, located 200 km west of Winnipeg on the Trans-Canada Highway. It is large enough to supply all the retail, medical, educational and cultural needs on a daily basis and small enough to avoid high costs of living and lengthy commutes. Brandon University has a significant reputation in music, general arts and science programs. Riding Mountain National Park is one hour north of the city, and the Peace Gardens are situated on the Manitoba/North Dakota border just over an hour to the south. There are numerous other recreational areas in western Manitoba. Dubbed “the Host City”, Brandon’s enthusiastic volunteer base land many provincial, national and international events. The “Wheat City” is an excellent community in which to raise children or retire.
